RSVP’s To Your Ceremony

RSVP is an initialism derived from the French phrase Répondez s'il vous plaît, meaning "Please respond" to require confirmation of an invitation. There is often a date associated with an invitation requesting the response by a certain date. Meaning this is the final date needed to arrange all preparations required to make sure people are included and provided for.

Why is it that people often wait until that final date to respond? If at all?
